Kang Pyo So, co-founder and CTO of AtoMe, is a scientist with an extensive background in nanotechnology and materials science. He has dedicated his career to the innovation of nanocomposites, enhancing their performance and adaptability for use in extreme conditions, spanning the energy, aviation, and aerospace sectors.
In his earlier years, Dr. So made significant contributions as a research scientist at MIT, focusing on the scalable development of nanoengineered metallic composites, enriched with carbon nanotubes (CNTs). His expertise lies in the synthesis, characterization, and manufacturing of materials, a skill set reinforced by 20 patented technologies and over 30 published papers that have garnered more than 4,600 citations.
Dr. So earned his Ph.D. from Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in 2012. He honed his skills and expanded his knowledge as a post-doctoral fellow/associate at both SKKU and MIT, delving deep into the intersection of energy science and nanotechnology.
At AtoMe, Dr. So is pivotal in steering the company's technical vision, spearheading research and innovation, and ensuring the practicality and efficiency of manufactured nanocomposites for a broad spectrum of applications. His current interests encapsulate the optimized development of materials for energy, additive manufacturing, and other severe conditions
