Retired Emeritus Head of Global Trading Solutions at S&P Global Commodity Insights (Platts) the leading information provider to the global energy and commodity markets.
In 1982 Marc graduated from the University of Alberta, Canada with a BSc in Statistics and Applied Probability. After which he joined a small Calgary based oil and gas exploration company spending time in the field and gaining firsthand experience in many aspects of the oil and gas business during an exciting and volatile time in the patch.
He developed deep expertise in the North American energy marketing and trading industry. This recognition of this expertise in the industry led to the 1989 founding of Fazer Systems, Inc. serving the rapidly evolving energy trading technology space. In 1993 Fazer was successfully sold to a large systems integrator.
In 1992 he entered into a joint venture with Direct Energy Limited launching world’s first electronic commodity trading platform. He acted as Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer of the company until 1995 when it was acquired by Natural Gas Clearing House (now Dynegy, Inc.).
In 1999 he moved to Houston eventually joining Platts launching and building their Global Trading services business.
