La Mer Macaron offers an assortment of homemade French macarons.

We have been hard at work this summer, and we want to show off our awesome founders! Meet the startups in Class 11 of OwlSpark and Class 2 of BlueLaunch. Our #FounderSpotlightSeries continues with La Mer Macaron from Rice University BlueLaunch!

While visiting France, we enjoyed experiencing the French way of life, especially their love for desserts and pastries. We wanted to bring that experience back to the Houston area by opening a macaron shop that embodies French culture.

So far this summer, we have learned how to move beyond the idea phase of opening a small business and take the first steps to sell a product and make revenue. Our most significant accomplishment so far has been deciding on a sales channel for the macarons and beginning to build a business strategy around it. 

Fun Fact: Our business is completely family owned and operated! We welcomed a new baby girl during the program!
