We are Sapling Jobs and we are building a platform to connect college students in India with entrepreneurs in the US for part-time remote jobs, based in tech and design. We vet and upskill these students before connecting them with entrepreneurs in order to provide these entrepreneurs a seamless experience – where they do not have to compromise on quality of the work while getting it done at affordable prices.
Why did you decide to start your business or launch this product or service?
When I was doing my undergrad back in India, no one in my college worked part-time. I was one of the very few, who secured a part-time position after several efforts – and I was in one of the best colleges in the country majoring in computer science. Even after I secured the part-time role, I was paid only $50 a month. Just a couple years later after graduating, I was making $50k a year working in India itself! Therefore , there were two problems that needed to be solved, first being to help students get the work experience that they are looking for and the second was to eliminate the scenario where students are being unpaid /underpaid if they manage to secure a part-time job.
What is your biggest accomplishment from this program?
