Sean Maher

Sean Maher is vice president of investor relations and chief economist for Phillips 66. Maher has extensive experience in energy finance, public markets investing and macroeconomic analysis. Maher joined Phillips 66 from Third Gear Investments, an investment firm he co founded that invests across the energy value chain, from traditional to renewable sources, leveraging deep expertise in market dynamics and opportunities. Previously, he was a partner and senior portfolio manager at RCH Energy, a premier energy boutique, where he oversaw approximately $700 million in public equity assets and served as a board member and co chair of the audit committee for a Sanchez Energy. Maher began his energy finance career in Morgan Stanley’s Energy Investment Banking practice before joining the firm’s No. 1 ranked energy research team covering integrated oils and refining. He was then selected to lead the Midstream and Integrated Natural Gas franchises. Maher has a Bachelor of Business in finance and economics and a Master of Business Administration in accounting and finance from St. Bonaventure University, where he was Captain of the Division I swim team and an Assistant to the Dean of the School of Business. He is an ICF accredited executive coach, trained at the Doerr School at Rice University in the Executive Leadership Coaching Program, and a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).
