Dr. Laureen Meroueh is the Founder and CEO of Hertha Metals, Inc. Hertha Metals is a venture-backed stealthy startup company that is developing technology to decarbonize one of the hardest-to-abate sectors – steel production. Steel is the backbone of modern industry, but contributes to more than 8% of global CO2 emissions. Meroueh holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a graduate minor in business and entrepreneurship. She has been committed to tackling climate change through profitable breakthrough technologies, with her last company focused on green hydrogen production. Dr. Laureen Meroueh has been recognized for her contributions to business and sustainability, as a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and MIT Energy Initiative Fellow. She also earned a coveted spot in the inaugural cohort of the Breakthrough Energy Innovator Fellows program, founded by Bill Gates, reinforcing her expertise and leadership in the climate tech industry.
